A little about me

My name is Juliana Vincent. I am a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a wife. I was also a mother for 28 weeks until my child passed away during birth due to some physical abnormalities. At that moment, it became clear what I wanted to do. I want to help other families who have gone or will go thru the devastating loss of a child.

I have always wanted to be a social worker. I was first introduced to the field through my mother’s best friend. She is the director of Social Work in my home town of El Paso, TX. I was first introduced to the field when I was a teenager. I got a summer job answering phones at her office. When I graduated high school I decided to major in Social Work. As I started taking classes and continued working in her office I was exposed to such sadness. I then came to the conclusion that I was not strong enough to do this work. So I joined the Air Force. I spent six years in the Air Force doing Bioenvironmental Engineering, which is basically Occupational Health and Safety.

When I went to the doctor and found out our baby was sick and would not survive outside of the womb, I had no one to talk to about the situation. I had my husband, family, and friends but we had no one to help guide us thru the grief. We were grief stricken and had no one to help. So we did not deal with it. Then the inevitable happened. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and labor was induced. While at the hospital waiting to say hello and goodbye to my little boy Eric, I decided what I wanted to do. Help prepare families deal with the loss of a baby.
